The tl;dr version: samantha rose johnson is a Bay Area-born writer and editor. Her writing has appeared in OyeDrum, ILY Mag, blood orange, Occulum, and more. She is a graduate of University of California, Riverside with a B.A. in English, and is currently a student at the UCLA Extension Writer’s Program. By day she scouts and supports talent for comic books and graphic novels. She lives in California with her sweet black cat, Sookie.

In 2015, she founded the cult feminist community, Pussy Magic, which ran as a lit mag from 2017 to 2020, where she was editor-in-chief. In 2017 she joined author and professor Kristen Sollée and artist Jacq Frances (aka Jacq the Stripper) for the Sex Witch Slam in Salem, MA, to read poetry. sam was invited to read twice at the Paint My World Poetry Slam in Oakland, CA, in 2017 and 2018. In 2019, she created the limited series Satin Soulbits Podcast revolving around sex, wellness, and womanhood.

She writes two substacks: women's wilderness and The Highlight Reel.
